At last, summer is now upon us. Long, warm, evenings and gorgeous sunsets. That’s definitely what living in Spain is all about! Sipping Sangria or a cool beer and watching the sun drop behind the mountains.

The great thing about the weather in this part of Spain, the Altiplano de Granada, is even when the days are baking hot and 40ºC plus it normally cools down sufficiently at night to sleep comfortably. June, July and August here get very hot but the beauty of the Spanish home is that they are designed to cope with this intense heat. The thick walls of a Cortijo, keep the room temperatures cool and pleasant. And a cave can actually feel quite fresh away from the heat of the sun.
Even with a new build, keeping it cool in the summer, is as important as heating is in the winter. All our new build properties are well insulated both via the walls and also in the roof. Double glazed windows and shutters come as standard, helping to keep the glare of sun out.

C136 is a villa currently being built in the pretty hamlet of Los Collados, 5 minutes from the pretty Andalucian village of Castril.
